Larry Krantz Elected to American College of Trial Lawyers Board of Regents
At its annual meeting in October 2018, the American College of Trial Lawyers elected Larry to its Board of Regents. Larry was inducted as a Fellow of the College in 2006. The College is comprised of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada and is widely considered to be the premier professional trial organization in North America. Founded in 1950, the College is an invitation only fellowship. The College selects only those who have demonstrated the very highest standards of trial advocacy, ethical conduct, integrity, professionalism and collegiality.
The management of the College’s affairs is vested in a Board of Regents, consisting of five officers and 15 regents across North America. The Regents are elected for four-year terms and have an assigned jurisdiction. Larry’s jurisdiction is Downstate New York, Connecticut and Vermont. He previously served as the College’s Downstate New York Chair and as a member of the College’s National Trial Competition Committee. He currently coordinates the College’s trial training programs for legal services lawyers.
Marjorie Berman Elected President of the Federal Bar Council Inn of Court
The Federal Bar Council American Inn of Court recently installed Margie as President for 2018-2019. The Inn’s mission is to promote collegial interaction between the Bench and Bar through intellectually stimulating programs and informal discussions that promote the ideals of professionalism, mentoring, ethics and legal skills. The Inn creates a community of lawyers and jurists who care about the legal profession and each other, in the hope that members of the Inn will guide, mentor and befriend one another. This year’s theme for the Inn of Court is “Women and the Law: Precedent, Pioneers and Progress.”
Margie cares deeply about the Inn and has been an active member since 2001. She has spearheaded many of the Inn’s innovative programs, and has written an annual musical parody about lawyers for many years. She has now been recognized for her contributions and leadership skills by being elected as the President of the Inn.

Krantz & Berman is delighted to announce that Lisa Cahill has joined the Firm as Of Counsel. Lisa, formerly a partner at two major New York City firms, brings with her a wealth of civil and criminal litigation experience. We are thrilled to have her onboard!
Margie continues to expand her mediation practice, and has been selected to the Mediation Panel for the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court, New York County. She has served for many years on the Mediation Panels for the SDNY and EDNY.
Krantz & Berman scored two major appellate victories for a national life insurance carrier that it represents. In those cases we had obtained summary judgment rescinding $13 million in life insurance coverage, based on materially false financial representations in the life insurance applications. In both cases the Appellate Division, First Department, affirmed the grant of summary judgment in our client’s favor. The cases were worked on principally by Krantz and Berman attorneys Larry Krantz and Wendy Powell.

Krantz & Berman is also pleased to announce that Nic Rovner, who joined the Firm in October 2017, has been admitted to the Bar. Nic is a 2017 graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he served as the Managing Editor of the Moot Court Honor Society. Nic passed the Bar exam that he took in July 2017. Congratulations Nic!
